“The first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. The difference between them is sometimes as great as a month.” — Henry Van Dyke
Our school secretary attached this quote to our morning message this morning. Here in Maine it sure is the truth!
Driving around today I optimistically looked for signs of spring and did find a few…
When I pulled up to our mailbox, the snow bank has receded enough that I can actually reach into the mailbox rather than have to lean out precariously across to get the mail.
A friend shared that she went wool and long john free… I think this was risky but the temperature did pass 40 degrees.
The Dairy Queen is open although I can’t quite bring myself to go and get a Blizzard… we have had enough of the real deal.
The Fat Boy Drive In opened… the classic local drive in restaurant with car hops serving up burgers, fries and frappes like they have for over 50 years.
The patches of green are getting bigger although they are so squishy we don’t dare step on them because the depth of how far we will sink is unknown.
The sun is a smidge brighter and warmer.
The signs of spring are pretty sparse.
All we need is a nice cleansing rain.
Forecast for the weekend… wintery mix.
